Case Study

Nippon Express is a Japan-based logistics company with a global reputation in specialised transport solutions, supply chain management, warehouse and distribution for multiple industries, including automotive, aerospace and telecommunications; they have over 744 locations globally.

Their Melbourne logistics centre located at Roussos Place, Truganina was running with inefficient lighting:

  • Office – T-Bar Dual T5 Fluro
  • Warehouse – Batten Dual T5 Fluro / Batten Sextuple T5 Fluro
  • Canopy – T-Bar High Bay Quad T5 Fluro

After an appraisal, Prolux identified that by installing new LED lighting that a savings of over $14,500 p.a. could be achieved through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program, and in addition a 62.1% reduction in energy consumption.

The new LED lighting installation consisted of upgrading to the following lights:

  • JUNO Batten Lights
  • PHOENIX High Bays – Motion Sensors
  • NOVA LED Panels

Maintaining fluorescent globes and ballasts can be costly, with the globe’s life expectancy of approximately 20,000 hours and even less when left on for long periods of time. In addition, there is the ongoing maintenance of regularly changing each individual fitting; this can be costly and dangerous. Prolux removed all old light fittings from site for recycling and arranged the lighting rebate for the client.

“Over a 10 year period, the client is predicted to save $145,866.”
