Australia wide, Aldi are renovating their existing ‘old school’ supermarkets and rolling out a number of new stores called Aldi Fresh – where the ‘cheap’ is being replaced with the modern and contemporary.

Aldi Australia CEO Tom Daunt says existing stores are being expanded and revamped to create more space for a wider range of fresh foods, increasing floor space by about 25 per cent.

We’re not trying to become another major supermarket, we like to keep things simple and very efficient for the consumer so we can pass those cost savings through to really good quality products sold at the lowest prices in the market,” Mr Daunt told The Australian Financial Review.
