Interval Metering for Additional Tenants

Do the buildings you manage have adequate meters serving your tenants? Looking at dividing an area into sections for additional tenants?

Adding additional meters is a costly and disruptive exercise. There is an alternative solution – Interval Metering.

Interval metering works the same as if a full metering upgrade was carried out on a property, however at a far less cost, with minimal disruption.

Additional meters are added to the existing installation, and each new meter is assigned to each new tenant. At the end of each quarter, all tenants are billed by an electrical retailer – exactly the same as if the works were carried out in the traditional manner.

What are the benefits of Interval Metering, as opposed to traditional Billing Meters?

• Interval Metering can be retrofitted to most existing installations
• Upgrading the existing installation to meet the current regulations is not required
• Booking in the works doesn’t require the services of the power companies (or their associated costs)
• There’s a quick turnaround from the pricing stage to the completion of works (no more than two weeks)
• Costs are generally less than half – typically, by adding two additional meters to a single tenancy it would cost approximately $7,500. Interval Metering on the other hand would only cost around $3,000

Prolux Electrical Contractors are specialists in Interval Metering, managing the entire process from concept to completion.

“Costs are generally less than half.”

Naturally this is quite an unnerving statistic. For this reason Prolux Electrical takes security very seriously, installing its residential security alarms and CCTV systems at the same high standards as our professionally designed commercial systems.

  • Security Alarm Systems
  • Security Lighting

  • Movement Sensors
  • Window and Door contacts
  • Glass Break Detectors

10 WAYS TO PREVENT A BREAK IN

1. Don’t leave keys in the obvious places
Burglars are aware that people will leave a key in front of the house ‘just in case.’ The doormat, on top of the window frame, the letterbox and electricity box are the most obvious places to leave a key. For a few dollars you can invest in a combination lock keyholder, a much safer alternative to leaving it under the door mat.

2. The lights are on but nobody’s home
By leaving a single light on, you are preventing burglars knowing if you are at home or not. Whilst there are obvious environmental reasons to turn the lights off, it’s a good idea to leave a single, environmentally friendly fluorescent light on. It has been proven that burglars are less likely to break into a house with a light on. An even better solution is to install a sensored security light. Ask Prolux Electrical to install a security light and sensors as an added deterrent.

3. Use deadlocks
The standard locks on a door knob are usually not of the same quality as a deadlock. Investing in a dead lock is a wise investment, that will give you added peace of mind when you are out, or even when you are home.

4. Install an alarm system
One of the first things a burglar looks for is a siren or a flashing light at the front of the house. Investing in a quality security system or CCTV system can make the difference. Call Prolux and ask about our security solutions to protect your home.

5. Lock you doors
What better way to invite danger to your home than to leave the doors and windows open. You may as well put an “open for inspection” sign at the front of your home.

6. Maintain your yard
Overgrown shrubs and trees make fantastic hiding spots for burglars. Trim that hedge, cut that grass and call Prolux Electrical Contractors to install a low voltage garden lighting kit. An illuminated garden will drive burglars away.

7. Be careful what you say online
Burglars will research their victims before striking using popular social networking sites like Facebook. Avoid publishing dates and times when you are going away. If you really have to tell people about it, wait until you get back.

8. Fix those broken and jarred locks
A broken or jarred lock is annoying. Many home owners think a lock alone is enough of a deterrent for burglars. How wrong they are. The first thing a burglar will do is check to see if the padlock is actually locked or not.

9. Secure your garage
Why would a burglar break into your house, when you already have thousands of dollars of equipment waiting for collection in your unlocked shed or garage. Lock your shed. Prolux can also help alarm your shed and your home, or add a sensored security light as an added deterrent.

10. When away, organise a friend to empty your mailbox and take out the rubbish
When on holidays, organise a close friend to empty your letterbox, bring your bins in and out. It’s also valuable to keep the house looking like it is lived in.
